Today at work I found out one good thing and one kind of sad thing.

Good news first:  one of my spinal cord patients, who is an 18-year-old quadriplegic as a result of gang violence, got approved through Victims of Crime for a wheelchair-lift van for his family after I wrote a letter for him... so he will be able to get places without relying on ( Read more... )

I filled up my gas tank before work... $4.18 in the AM, and it was already up a nickel/gallon to $4.23 when I came home.  This is at one of the cheaper gas stations in town, mind you -- off the freeways, it's closer to $4.50/gallon for 87.  It hurts, people, it hurts.  Our patients have been cancelling their appointments if they don't have gas ( Read more... )

• Car problems: Malibu has bad transmission mounts, we are going to fix it mostly for future resale value, as we would not get anything on it now.  Husband will have this be his "around town" car for school & things... and after 2 nights of occasionally frustrating car shopping, we have a new Hyundai Elantra.  I'm excited about the new car, but not ( Read more... )

      Today I went to the PossAbilities triathalon in Loma Linda.  My PT assistant had done a great job of recognizing which of our patients would be good to compete, and so I had 3 of my outpatients compete in various legs.  There was the option of just doing the 5K Walk/run/roll, which is what one of my quads did -- or there was the sprint ( Read more... )

It's amazing to me how I can have a day chock-full of positive experiences & interactions & great patient treatments, but then have one snag with Administration's involvement in the last 30 minutes of my day, and the whole day feels like it was a bust.  Again, I just want to be able to do my job... to be a good therapist and work with patients.  ( Read more... )
